For the pancreatic cancer research group (Project leader Dr. med. Guido von Figura) of the II. Medizinische Klinik, Klinikum rechts der Isar of TU Munich we are looking for a

 

PhD student (m/f)

 

Applications are invited from highly motivated life sciences graduates (Diplom, M.Sc. degree or equivalent).

Pancreatic cancer is characterized by a poor prognosis with only limited treatment options. In order to change this dismal situation a better understanding of the disease is needed. In our group we use state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo systems to investigate mechanisms of pancreatic cancer development. In his/her project the PhD candidate will study candidate genes implicated in pancreatic cancer formation from its cellular origin using novel genetically engineered mouse models. The research group (Project leader Dr. med. Guido von Figura) is supported by an Emmy Noether Program grant.

Your Profile:

  • Diploma, M.Sc. degree or equivalent biology/biochemistry graduate
  • Innovative, independent, stress-resistant, and highly motivated
  • highly organized and flexible work attitude
  • fluent in English
  • Experience in molecular cell biology, cell culture models and experimental animal work would be advantageous.
  • You have extended experience in the usual computer software packages (MS-Office)
  • Knowledge of bioinformatic tools would be advantageous


The position is limited for three years, however longer funding options are available. Preferred start date is October 1st, 2015. Payment is according to the German TV-L.
